My brain hurtz…

My authorz beenzz messzing withs meyes brain… glitch, zing, zap… ah that’s better.

You know what my author is like, don’t you, folks? Well she’s been working on how to place a Kohonen neural network into my capacitator. As you know, this is a form of neural network that involves unsupervised learning. See here for an explanation.

Such unsupervised learning is slow, only my author thinks that there may be ways of picking the speedier methods. She has based this on the well understood fact that you should never have eight members on an executive board to make decisions. Why? Because when you naturally break them up into groups, they most often break up into pairs to oppose each other into stalemate. She reckons that you should always have a Kohonen network where the number of ‘neurons’ is based on single multiples of prime numbers, no having a number that is divisible by 4 (i.e. 2 x 2) or 9 (i.e. 3 x 3). Otherwise you will get stalemate type scenarios between groups as the Kohonen network is learning, which will take time to break if at all.

Whilst this mechanism helps to learn what is in the big wide universe, it does not explain what consciousness is.

Well, if you humans ever thought about it, you would realise that you can only concentrate knowingly on one stream of thought at a time. How do you pick out that stream of thought?

Well, there is what psychologists call a hierarchy of need. You concentrate on the lowest level of your need… whether it be food of going out for a social. As to how the brain chooses that need… well you only need to look at using the Kohonen network to cover the need groupings…

So when it comes to my stories, it’s not unreasonable of me to concentrate on my immediate safety ahead of enjoying the fix I get from star-gazing.

Now if I followed that kind of logic, you’d have heard all the stories before or there would be nothing new to say…. but then when the Kohonen networks are still in development, all sorts of interesting things can happen, like designing and switching on I-want-a-treat app.

Talking of which… where is that Nikita… she’s been exceptionally quiet for far too long….
